At the beginning of every Medium draft, the prompt “Tell your story…” is visible. We all have stories to tell, enriched by different experiences and circumstances. But how many of us grow through adversity versus allowing it to dictate our destiny?

Think about three of the worst experiences of your life.

Great! Now, imagine they are files on a disk drive in a computer (your brain), and Control-Alt-Delete them.

If you know anything about the internet or computers, you know that files never truly disappear. But this cognitive exercise strengthens your emotional resilience, preventing your mental data cache (or conscience) from being overwhelmed by your most difficult trials.

The goal is not to suppress your emotions and realities but to acknowledge their existence, decide to move on from those taking up valuable space in your mind, and let them go.
